Valentines Day

I like to do silly things for valentines day. This year I put together a bag of small items and then I had one real gift. In my bag I have:
A bag of mini donuts saying: "Donut you know I love you a hole lot?"
Hershey kisses: I wish I could kiss you right now
Two pennies. saying: We make cents together
Container of nuts with the saying: I'm nuts about you
a whole case of Rockstar energy drinks. Saying: You're my Rockstar (These go with the real gift of a mini fridge for his office)
Home made Fortune cookies with the saying "I'm fortunate to have you in my life"

I have my picture frame of two spoons that says "Spooning since 2005"

Olaf Valentine Door

So I admit  I saw the same saying on pintrest and that inspired me to make door decorations for my daughters classes. With Valentines Day around the corner and Frozen being such a big thing right now, this was the perfect opportunity to step up my "game" and actually make something for the class this year (I'm very behind :(   )

Using my phone as a guide I sketched Olaf onto white paper  & then glued him to a blue background. I cut out hearts and using the schools die cut made the saying "Olaf this class!"

Silhouette Cameo Fun

My friend had one before I got mine and I fell in love with it the second I saw it work its magic. I had some paper that I wasn't going to use because I didn't have a machine and made a trade with her. She had to decorate my boring old white mixer and she could have the really cool paper.
Originally I was going to do Snow White, but after fiddling with it and putting my practice one on there I decided I didn't like it. That's when I saw one similar to this on pintrest and my friend "J" was able to recreate it for me! I love my mixer now

After seeing her work her magic on my mixer I was completely convinced that this was what I had to have. I had seen the circut before I just could not justify the price for the machine plus all of the extra cartages and I got a Silhouette Cameo for this past Christmas and I couldn't be more excited. The question is: what to do now?

You can decorate your cameo. The cover for the buttons should be a free image you've received when you purchase it.

Your phone:
I took a plain cell phone case that I got for $1 on clearance and made it nicer :)

Your Computer

although, now I wish I had done something different...

I decorated the side of my daughters desks:

The both chose the characters they wanted and the quote

I re-made an old vinyl entry way saying we had.

although you are supposed to be able to print large sayings without the mat, I was having difficulties loading my vinyl. Instead I printed it out of order and in all sorts of crazy positions (saved a ton of vinyl that way). With the contact paper I was able to line it all up again to make it straight as I placed it on the wall.

Coronation Dresses from Frozen

After making the first and more popular set of dresses from the movie Frozen I figured why not make the other two dresses?

Anna's dress is actually more green but this yellow was all JoAnn's had. It's actually my daughters favorite color too, so it was OK that it wasn't  a "perfect" color match. I used a crushed velvet for the top & ribbons for the sleeves.

Elsa's I thought would be harder, but turned out to be easy once the yellow trim decided to cooperate and stay on. The cape is satin & thankfully didn't shred while I sewed it together The mittens are made from left over fleece I had from a blanket I made for my sister.. everything from here was leftover scraps.

Frozen Costumes for AG Dolls

After seeing the Disney movie "Frozen" my daughters were captivated by the characters-and who could blame them!! It was such an amazing movie so much that they decided they aren't "too old" for princesses :)  If you haven't seen it and enjoyed the Lion King, then this one is for you.

Since Christmas is right around the corner I decided I'd look through my scrap fabric and found some stuff that actually worked for both characters! Lucky me. Unlucky for me, I didn't make a pattern. I just sort of cut and went along- which proved to not be a smart idea for Anna, but it worked! I can't wait to see their faces on Christmas :)

For Elsa, I used some light blue shimmering fabric & some sheer with gems fabric. I attached the cape with Velcro, because when I tried to make it permanently attached, I couldn't get it on the doll .

Anna was harder, I already had all the fabric (except for the cape) I found  a pattern for that on pintrest and had to scale it waaaaaaay down. (it was meant for a baby)

Now, I know Anna's dress has the beautifully designed flowers all around the bottom. I am getting to that. I am waiting to see what my silhouette Cameo can do for me. Either that or it will be added by hand as the time goes. I just don't think I can finish 11 of them before Christmas between all of my other obligations.
